Disgorged to order, the Magnums spend longer on the lees, developing a slightly richer profile, the signature salinity and acids still very much present. This year's magnum is made from wines of the warm 2022 vintage, sparked with fermenting must of the 2023 vintage.

The Rietsch estate has been in the family for seven generations, initially used for growing tobacco and other crops. It wasn't until the 1970s that Jean-Pierre's parents started planting vines, a tradition he took over in 1987. Family values drive everything here, with a focus on natural farming and letting the land speak for itself. They hardly ever use chemicals, and sulfur in the cellar is a last resort.
