Les Raisins Suspendus

Two years ago, we discovered Maxime and Angela's wines at a fair in France, and were instantly hooked. Despite their limited production, they attracted high demand worldwide. We a thrilled to share that their bottles have finally made their way to the UK.

Their winemaking journey began in 2018 when Angela, a former IT consultant, and Maxime, an events management expert, embraced their love for wine and sustainable agriculture. They ventured into organic farming through a Canadian apprenticeship. Inspired by their experiences, Maxime pursued studies in viticulture-oenology, fully embracing the path of natural wines.

Establishing domaine Les Terres du Gaugalin in the Gard region near their hometowns, their aim was to convert three hectares of old vines into organic production, and revitalising the ecosystem. Overcoming challenges like heatwaves and frost, they made a bold move in 2020—relocating to the picturesque Hautes-Alpes region.

Over there, they created Les Raisins Suspendus estate, revitalising a historic vineyard with ancient vines. Located at an elevation of 800 to 1000 meters, this unique site features limestone soils enriched with marl and alluvium from past glaciations.

While focusing on Hautes-Alpes, Maxime and Angela gradually phased out their operations in the Gard region. However, their commitment to crafting exceptional wines led them to source grapes from close friends, allowing them to produce select cuvées under the Les Terres du Gaugalin label.
