How it tastes: A thirst-quenching wine, simply delicious with abundant red currants, fresh herbs.
How it's made: Sourced from biodynamic vineyards in both Hungary and Austria. The grapes were fermented with indigenous yeast and aged for 18 months in 40 year old oak barrels. Bottled with no filtration or fining and just a small amount of sulphur.
About the maker: Located in far-eastern borderland region of Burgenland, the Weninger family has two estates, one on either side of the Hungarian-Austrian border. The name Ponzichter means "bean grower" and was given to a minority of German speaking winemakers in the Hungarian region of Sopron who used to grow vegetables (mainly beans) in between the vines.
