How it tastes: A vibrant and energetic wine with notes of juicy pear, fragrant lemon verbena, and a touch of zesty blood orange.
How it's made: Whole bunch, pressed in old basket, fermented in stainless steel with natural yeasts, bottled in June 22, disgorged, unfiltered.
About the maker: After working at New Zealand's Stonyridge vineyard, Jan-Philipp returned to Germany and completed his winemaking apprenticeship. Drawn to the Mosel Valley's slopes, he gained experience at wineries like Villa Huesgen. In 2019, he joined Staffelter-Hof, where he worked closely with Jan-Matthias Klein for three years. During this time, Jan produced his own wines using natural methods and organic and biodynamic farming practices.
Jan also introduced sustainable practices by launching Mosel's first Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) scheme at Staffelter-Hof. He recently left the winery to continue his focus on community engagement with Solawi Bodensee, an association promoting sustainable land management.
Now settled in the charming Mosel towns of Traben-Trabach, Jan purchased his first vineyards in 2021, ready to embark on his independent winemaking journey.
